Specialising in oil pastels, she employs a unique technique of layering and blending colours to create vivid, picturesque art. Her work is deeply influenced by nature, the rhythm of the seasons, the island of Texel, and anthroposophy, often aligning with Steiner or Waldorf art principles. In addition to oil pastels, Baukje integrates acrylics, ink, and other materials into her pieces, imparting a dreamlike quality to her artwork.​
