Developed by Dutchman Tom van der Bruggen in 1987, drawing inspiration from his studies in History of Art and love of architectural design, KAPLA planks bring together both art and STEM subjects. The name comes from the Dutch word ‘Kabouter Plankjes’, meaning ‘Gnome Planks’ and abbreviated to KAPLA.
